NFL Week 12 "Make or Break II: The Battle For Tomorrow Has Begun."
Congratulations! You've made it through the first round of holiday bull s*&^! Now, just buckle up for 29 days of Pre-Christmas... then Post-Christmas. Then New Years were everyone will post memes about "What Happened to 2017?" and joke about "How they are still single" or some Kermit the Frog meme with him in a blanket saying something about how they're going to stay like this all year... I don't know. And then you're going to get that BS gym membership, stop drinking every night and eat better. Fast forward to January 17th and you have gone to the gym a grand total of 6 times, your floor is littered with beer cans and pizza boxes, and the thing you are most proud of is that 5k you 'ran/walked *puked* ran.
Yikes... lets get back on track.
This weekend has a ton of games that will make or break a lot of team's season. You can still rebound from 4-6, not 4-7. Just look at the Chargers; they maybe one of the most dangerous 5-6 teams I have ever seen. The down side to week 12 and beyond is that there will start being more and more games that just don't mean a f*&^ing thing. Yeah, I can't wait to tune in week 15 when the 3-10 Giants get dismantled by the then NFC East Champion Eagles. But, we are not there yet! Now here are three games that all have playoff implications.
1. Buccaneers (4-6) at Falcons [-10] (6-4) 1pm FOX- I failed to mention before... the other problem about the later season games, injuries. And ARGH, Tampa sure has a frigate (a sailing warship the size and armament just below a ship of the line [a sailing warship of the largest size, used in the line of battle]) load of injuries. They will be without a starting guard, a starting corner, a starting defensive end and oh yeah, franchise QB Jameis Winston. However, the Falcons are down a starting offensive linemen AND team leading rusher Devonta Freeman. Upside? They are both on two game winning streaks, both grasping at wild card spots and both have to deal with suddenly the hardest division in the NFL with the Panthers at 7-3 and Saints 8-2. Atlanta needs the win to stay close and Tampa needs a win to stay vaguely relevant. Positives? You get to watch two of the best receivers in the game with ATL's Julio Jones and the Bucs' Mike Evans. These are the kind of guys that can break open a game. And, I would like to bet that whichever receiver has the best game will also walk away with a W. They stretch the field and help open up the run game with the deep ball threat. Falcons have one big advantage, pass rush. The Falcons are 5th in total sacks with 29 and the Bucs... tied with Buffalo at 30 with a whopping team total of 15.
Buccaneers-17 Falcons- 27
2. Bills (5-5) at Chiefs [-9] (6-4) 1pm CBS- Now these teams are on their way down. They both started out hot and are now fizzling into non-existence. For the Bills it all started after the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets beat the F-U-*-*, F*^*, F&%$, F&*% out of them on Thursday Night football. Then... the Nathan Peterman experiment happened. I won't go into it but, we all know how that went down. It was SO bad that non-sport people were talking about it in passing at work! Jesus. Now onto the mysterious case of the Kansas City Chiefs. They looked so dominate! They beat up the Patriots (8-2,) Eagles (9-1) and Chargers (5-6)... then they went ahead and lost to the *drum roll* the stumbling Cowboys (5-6,) the tumbling Raiders (4-6) and the straight dumpster fire GMen (2-9.) Good news for the Bills is that they are going with Tyrod Taylor today. That had to be a hell of a conversation. Thankfully, they won't even consider Joe Webb to start. Webb is a (using Madden rankings) 59 at best. All that aside today's game will shape the rest of these two team's season. If the Bills lose and it will be game over for sure... then they can start thinking of the 2018 Draft and a new, young, franchise QB. And this draft will have A LOT! Louisville's Lamar Jackson, USC's Sam Donald and Wyoming's Josh Allen (who I think it will be.) If the Chiefs lose they open the door for the Chargers! WHAT?! A team everyone was counting out could win the f*&^ing division! But, if we boil this game down to pure talent, I will take KC all day. Plus... it's at Arrow Head.
Bills- 16 Chiefs- 24
3. Saints (8-2) at Rams [-2.5] (7-3) 4:25pm CBS- Now this will be one melon-farmer of a game! Saints have the #1 total offense while the Rams have the #5 total offense. Both defenses are in the top 15. Both teams have stud running backs. The Rams have Todd Gurley who is 5th in rushing and Mark Ingram who is 4th in rushing. But, I want to talk about some defensive play makers for both teams. The Saints have defensive end Cameron Jordan who has 8 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. That doesn't include the QB hits, rushes and of course the double teams that he warrants that frees his teammates. In the secondary the Saints will be happy to have Kenny Vaccaro back. He leads the team with 3INT but also is the shot caller in the secondary and doesn't mind getting into the box and help stopping the run. The Rams have defensive end Aaron Donald who has racked up 5 sacks. But, Donald and the rest of the D-line help take on blockers to free up underrated linebacker (former safety) Mark Barron. He has 72 tackles, 3INT, 1 sack, can cover deep, in man to man and snuff the run. Both teams have talent for days... so what does that mean for the outcome? Rams roll, at home, in a close one.
Saints-23 Rams-27
Aaaand that's the wayyyy the news goes!
