NFL Power Rankings Week 3

Well, I go to see the Buccaneers go 2-0, then get steamrolled by the Steelers. 2-14 AHOY! But, the Top 10 and 5 worst really haven't shifted that much, other than a few scrambles here and there. And of course who didn't have KC starting off 3-0? Now let's take a look at the NFL's Top 10and that lowly Worst-of-the-Worst bottom 5. Top 10 1. Saints (2-1) I am not going to eject them from #1 after a good game with NFC South rival Atlanta. Still Super Bowl Champs. 2. Bears (3-0) WHOA! Jump from 7-to-2 but it's hard to keep them down when they are undefeated and Jay Cutler is looking solid. 3. Steelers (3-0) They made all the Bucs' walk the plank in an old fashioned Steelers way, DEFENSE! 4. Colts (2-1) Didn't move up, didn't move down. Which Peyton Manning this team is always a top 5 pick. 5. Packers (2-1) Slight fall from grace at #2 but they killed themselves with penalties in their MNF loss to the Bears. 6. Texans (2-1) The Cowb...

Campus Zeros [Week 4]

Now, I pick the 5 worst or most disappointing players... the guys that go cry to their girlfriend [or Mom] after putting on a heinous performance on the field. I think for the first time in a long time a Syracuse player will NOT be on this top 5... 5. South Carolina Gamecocks HC, Steve Spurrier: How can you go up 20-7 [missing a XP by the way, looking at you Spencer Lanning] with Stephen Garcia throwing the game of his life... then have the wheels fall off so fast?! Maybe because your 4th quarter drives went Fumble, Fumble, Interception, Interception? What in your right mind would make you pull your STARTING QB in the fourth quarter after he already tossed THREE scores?! Now, you want to play the backup that threw two great, on the money, passes to the Tigers? AND then have your 'vaunted defense' surrender 334yds on the ground... good luck next week with Alabama... 4. Duke Blue Devils' QB, Sean Renfree: Who? What? Sean who? This guy tossed THREE picks in Duke's 35-2...

Campus Heroes [Week 4]

Campus Heroes and Zeros was a segment I used to do on my Monday afternoon radio show. But, now I am going to convert it into a blog format... kind of lose the edge without hearing me drone and rant on about it live, but you get the picture. The way it works is I pick 5 of the best DIV I football performances of the previous week, these are the guys that got it done when they needed to, and got some heavy stats to boot. Here are your Heroes, the Zeroes will be along shortly... CAMPUS HEROES 5. Syracuse Orange RB, Delone Carter: Hey Godfather! Your bias is showing! Well, pardon me for being excited that Syracuse football ISN'T 0-4, but 3-1 [mind you the wins are over Colgate, Maine and Akron]. But, no matter who you're playing Carter still had a great game against the Red Raiders racking up 172yds and 4TD on a meager 14 carries. 4. Alabama Crimson Tide RB, Mark Ingram: I am usually not a fan of hyping a guy that already gets talked about on a hourly basis on ESPN... but it is...

NFL Power Rankings Week 2

I am sick of every TV/blog talking about who should be panicking after Week 2. Still have 14 weeks left in the season... and we all know that KC and Tampa won't be undefeated come week 16. So, lets take a look at the NFL's top 10 and the lowly Worst-of-the-Worst Bottom 5... Top 10 1. Saints (2-0) No reason for them to go anywhere but staying at #1. They are still defending SB champs and are playing like it. 2. Packers (2-0) My pick for the NFC representative in the SB AND MVP [Aaron Rogers] and MAYBE defensive MVP in Clay Matthews!  3. Texans (2-0) Just a mass of offensive explosion and a stud WR that will play when he is in pain. Can you ask for more?  4. Colts (1-1) Yes, they have a loss but it was to the high-flying Texans. And they laid the wood to Eli's G-Men. 5. Steelers (2-0) No QB! No problem! It will be interesting to see how they fair with Leftwich or Batch at the helm. 6. Dolphins (2-0) Whoa! Where did they come from? Chad Henne is playing ...

NFL Power Rankings Week 1

So, NFL week one is down the drain and it's pretty obvious that this is going to defensive year. Sure, a few teams got torched for 30+ points but, since when is Bengals and Raiders D feared? Maybe in the 70's? Lets see the NFL's Top 10 and that lowly Worst-of-the-Worst Bottom 5... Top 10 1. Saints (1-0)- It's not a amazing blowout win over MIN that earned them #1. They still are Super Bowl Champs. [Note: SB winning teams in opening games are now 7-0] 2. Packers (1-0) Just like the Saints they didn't house PHI in their opener BUT they won. And have my MVP pick on their team... 3. Ravens (1-0) Not a big win. In fact only 1TD in the whole game! A credit to the Ravens D... the O still needs some work. 4. Texans (1-0) They took the Colts OUT! They are now 15-2 all time against them. Maybe they can string some wins together now. 5. Colts (0-1) Yeah, they lost but they couldn't have a choke hold on that division forever! By the way it's only we...
