Coffee Fueled Picks Week 5

Hi there! It's like I didn't write on of these the last few weeks... whoops. Well, lets pick here at week 5. (I can't believe it's Week 5 already!) Thursday night football was truly a garbage bowl with San Fran losing to the spastic Cardinals. Now, what is entertaining this weekend? Tom Brady is Back. Rookie QB Paxton Lynch will be starting in Denver and the Vikings, Eagles and Broncos put their undefeated records on the line.

1:00pm Patriots (3-1) at Browns (0-4)
Yikes... Brady is back at the helm and it's against a Browns team that would have a losing record if it was in ACC. Cleveland allows a woeful 28.8 per game... But, I want to talk about the one positive thing in that dumpster fire of a franchise, Terrelle Pryor. The dude proved he is an athlete and already has 290yds, 1 receiving and 1 rushing TD. Are these ground shattering? No. But, he is the only bright spot in a really dismal organization.

1:00pm Eagles (3-0) at Lions (1-3)
Two words come to mind when thinking about this match up... 'trap game.' For the record, I am not calling for an upset but this is the kind of game that the Eagles could sleep walk into and leave with a loss. Matt Stafford has already thrown for over 1,200yds and 7TD. Also, the spread is only +4 in favor of Philly. Just saying... but I'm still picking the Eagles, I'm riding this hot streak.
PHI-35 DET-26

1:00pm Titans (1-3) at Dolphins (1-3)
Wow, a lot of 1-3 teams! And this match up is going to be rough. The Dolphins are playing without a ton of starters on both sides of the ball. Both teams average under 18 points a game. It's going to be ugly and it's going to be a Titans' win.

1:00pm Bears (1-3) at Colts (1-3)
It's amazing how many people are ready to lynch Andrew Luck. He's 8th in total passing yards and 1st in being sacked, a mind boggling 15 times already! That Colts' offensive line is a nightmare. They can't rush they ball which makes Luck have to chuck the rock 35+ times a game. Which, makes their offense one denominational. Which, makes it way easier to call a defense. WHICH, allows the defensive ends and outside backers to be in full rush mode, pinning their ears back and eating Luck for lunch. *I rest my case!* That being said, the Colts' DB's are just terrible.

1:00pm Redskins (2-2) at Ravens (3-1)
The Ravens' defense is starting to come around... can't say the same for the Skins' D. They are letting up and AVERAGE of 424yds a game! Is it injuries? Is it there lack luster secondary? Who knows. But, they face a Joe Flacco today that hasn't been quite himself this year. In four games he has only tossed 4TD (and 4INT) and rumor has it that the Ravens may have reached out to *drum roll* Ray Rice. SO! Their maybe some question marks in that backfield. I'll tell ya what, if Dennis Pitta has a big game today it will be a Raven's win.

1:00pm Texans (3-1) at Vikings (4-0) *My game of the week*
Woooo baby! This should be fun to watch. Two solid QBs. Two top tier defenses. Two total teams that both will be in the playoffs this year (by the way, I am Captain Jinx... sorry Houston and Minnesota fans.) This will most likely be a low scoring game. But, what do I know? I am on my third espresso and the words are starting to blur together.

1:00pm Jets (1-3) at Steelers (3-1)
Ryan Fitzpartick's season is in a... bit of a nose dive. Well all know the stats, we all know he sat out a ton in the off season due to contact issues and WE ALL KNOW *insert a third thing negative thing about Fitz that I can't come up with right now.* The Steelers' run game is dangerous and will break down that Jets' front seven at the game goes on. Dare I say it may be time for Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg to takeover if the Jets continue to spiral? No. You are paying Fitz a ton of money to play and no need to shatter your potential future QBs.

4:05pm Falcons (3-1) at Broncos (4-0)
What looks like a fun game on paper I think will be a beat down in real life. Matt Ryan is coming off an outstanding career game, torching Carolina for something like 780yds? But, the Broncos aren't the Panthers. In fact, Denver is at home and are starting Paxton Lynch. Some may see this as a negative but the Falcons' defense is child's play and I think it is a great game for him to continue his NFL education.

4:25pm Bengals (2-2) at Cowboys (3-1)
Cole Beasley. Any idea who that is? That is rookie Dallas QB's favorite target. A.J. Green. Any idea who that is? Uh, yeah! Dalton's favorite target. Am I picking this game based on that? No, but it helps aid my decision. If Cincy can bottle up Ezekiel Elliot and make Dak throw it a ton I think the Bengals get the win. But, if the Cowboys keep that pass/run ratio 60/40 in favor of run (with success) it is a Dallas win. *Flips coin* Heads! So, I'll take Cincy.

4:25pm Bills (2-2) at Rams (3-1)
The Bills left early for this trip to get acclimated to the time change on the west coast. But, is that enough to even the playing field? No. Buffalo fans are ready to pre-buy Super Bowl tickets after their last few wins against the Cards and a Brady-less Patriots team. Pump those breaks ladies and gentlemen. Three weeks ago you were ready to run Rex Ryan and company out of town. If they win. I will be surprised. Very surprised.

4:25pm Chargers (1-3) at Raiders (3-1)
Who will be running the ball for the silver and black this week? It will be a combination of rookie running backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. And who will replace starting TE Lee Smith? He is that all important tight end that can get in a three point stance and block but also be there as a solid pass catcher. The list goes on and on as far as major injuries go for Oakland. But, San Diego has looked rough this year. The only reliable piece in that franchise is Phillip Rivers. That dude always gets it done no matter was cluster of receivers are out there. BUT, I don't think it will be enough.

8:30pm Giants (2-2) at Packers (2-1)
It's really hard to pick against Aaron Rogers. And it's REALLY HARD to pick a G-Men team that has started, what seems like, 30 different running backs this season. Oh! AND it's REALLY REALLY HARD to pick a team that has a receiver that is so loony that I feel like Dennis Rodman would be like "dude you gotta chill out." To top it all off it's in Lambeau Field on Sunday Night football.
NYG-13 GB-27

8:30pm Buccaneers (1-3) at Panthers (1-3)
Yikes. I am the only person excited for this. (Mostly, because I never get to see a Bucs' game on regular TV) The Panthers went from looking like a dominant force in 2015 to a team that's sprinting for a top 10 draft pick. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers started hot and have been ice cold since their only win of the season. The Panthers' secondary is just... just awful. And look for Jameis Winston to have a good game. The only real negative for Tampa is no Doug Martin and no Charles Sims. That means Jacquizz Rogers will get the nod to start. He is a solid ball catcher but not the kind of dude you can pound between the tackles.
