Godfather Part IV: Football, Neat Stuff & Stuff That's Neat

I really need to work on title writing. But, if we are being honest I am sweating out Sam Adams Octoberfest and late night Halloween candy bingeing at the moment. I'd say "I'm Back!" but, we all know that is the sweet sweet kiss of death to blogs and Grade A content.

*yarfs in trash can*

So, going into this College Football Saturday there are a bunch of really nifty games and storylines you need to know. Or you don't need to know and you can just stop f*&%ing reading this post.

1. #2 Penn State (7-0) at #6 Ohio State (6-1)- Kirk Herbstreit kind of beat me to the punch on this(but you'd actually have to be watching ESPN to know this) Short and sweet... the loser of this game (today, 3:30 kickoff on FOX) will be out for a shot at the playoffs/National Title. Why? Penn State only has one ranked team left on the old schedule (Michigan State next weekend) then just a bunch of teams happy to play in the Media Play Bowl in Trenton, NJ.  And what about Ohio State? Hold your f&%*ing horses I'm getting there! OSU already has a loss (31-16 L to #5 Oklahoma) and has a deceivingly hard schedule left. Iowa next weekend won't be a cakewalk, they gave Penn State a 21-19 scare earlier in the year, Sparty, Illinois (they're just happy to still have a program,) and Michigan. Either way, I have a HARD time letting teams with one loss get in over teams with ZERO losses, let alone TWO! By the way! (ALL THE !!!!) I am taking OSU in this one. Neat right?

2. Let's Talk Other Undefeated Teams! #3 Georgia (7-0)is at Florida, no drama there. Bulldogs are 14pt favs. #8 Miami (6-0) at UNC SHOULD be done by halftime. But, the way the Canes have played all year they will win... just in the last 3min of the game. AND oh yeah, they are 20.5pt favorites. #5 Wisconsin (7-0) is at Illinois today and are *drumroll* 27 point over dogs (is that the opposite of under dogs?) The Fighting Illini boast wins over WKU and Ball State... these game should pretty much be in the bag. #1 East Carolina (whoops) TAKE 2. #1 Alabama has an open week or bye week, or whatever the f*&^ they call it in college. But, looking ahead they play at LSU next week and I love anytime Coach Saban has to visit Baton Rouge.

3. And Another Possible Nail Biter! #4 TCU (7-0) at #25 Iowa State (5-2) (3:30, ESPN2/ABC) is interesting. Now, I'm not going to act like I know the ins and outs of these two programs, because I don't. However, I can tell you this looks like one of those 'game break games.' What's that?! Glad you (probably didn't) asked. The upset that is so crazy it interrupts whatever game you're watching. Now that I wrote that I out I feel like it's pretty self explanatory. And the Horny Toads (not making that up) are only 7pt favorites AND it's on the road. A loss like this could/will toss TCU out of the playoff conversation.

And that's the waaaayyyyyy the news goes!
