Coffee Fueled Picks Week 2
If you're asking "Hey was there Coffee Fueled Picks Week 1?" Nope... because I didn't come up with the idea until right now! What are you going to get in this new feature blog? Quick blips on every NFL game on the docket for today and tomorrow. It's a great fast way to read up on all that is going around the NFL today and tomorrow. DO IT.
1:00pm Bengals (1-0) at Steelers (1-0)
Who doesn't love some AFC North action? Both teams look to take the division this year on the backs (arms) of their respective QBs (if I need to list who they are... you clearly don't watch football.) I like Cincy in this one. They have a better pass rush and receiver core. The only true X-Factor (I hate that cliche) is if DeAngelo Williams has another fantastic ground game which then opens up the play action pass which Big Ben does that better than most in the league. That being said.... CIN-27 PIT-23
1:00pm Titans (0-1) at Lions (1-0)
So... the Titans lost to a SHAUN HILL run Vikings offense. Do they have a top 5 offensive line and a top 5 running back in Minnesota? Yeah. But, you can't let that happen. Meanwhile, the Lions are coming off a solid win against a above par Colts team last week. Detroit's rushing defense is good which means the Titans will have to lean on young Marcus Mariota's arm... yikes. Guess where I am going with this one... TEN-16 DET-24
1:00pm Ravens (1-0) at Browns (0-1)
....uh...The Browns are an NFL team in Cleveland. Their primary colors are orange and brown... um... I've run out of semi-nice things to say about them. The Ravens will win. Period. Somehow Baltimore is only 3 point favorites in this one. BAL-31 CLE-10
1:00pm Cowboys (1-0) at Redskins (0-1)
Both teams are coming off a loss. Both teams want a division win. (Lets throw in one more obvious thing) Both teams want to score the most points. I like the Skins at home because they were 6-2 at FedEx field last year. Also, young Dak Prescott is starting to notice this isn't the preseason. Either way it's going to be a fun NFC East rumble. DAL-20 WSH- 24
1:00pm Saints (0-1) at Giants (1-0)
WOW, this blog is starting to run longer than I wanted it to. Maybe there is too much commentary from me and not enough facts and figures. Or maybe I need to make the font smaller? Nah this is WAY to small. Perhaps I should just do bullet points? No, this isn't a Power Point Presentation. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... oh s*** I did it again. Whoops. Look for a mild shootout in this one. NO-27 NYG-31
1:00pm 49ers (1-0) at Panthers (0-1)
First, check out this article on Ron Rivera Ron Rivera feels disrespected ESPN.com this is just Class-A bitching. (Can I type bitching? Well, I just did twice... so that happened) Second, the 49ers couldn't have picked a worse time to visit Charlotte. The Panthers are angry and hungry for a win after that loss in the season opener to Denver plus they are home. BUCKLE UP BLAINE (Gabbert.) SF-12 CAR- 31
1:00pm Dolphins (0-1) at Patriots (1-0)
The Pats got away with in one the desert last week. And in Miami the Fins fans are starting to flee like Jack "Cap" Rooney is under center. (Any Given Sunday reference. If you didn't know that do yourself a favor and buy it. A top five all time favorite of mine) If I have learned anything over the years it doesn't matter who is at the helm for the Pats: Matt Cassel, Drew Bledsoe, Tom Brady or Jimmy Garoppolo... they are always going to be favored. Especially, for a home opener at Gillette Stadium. MIA-14 NE-26
1:00pm Chiefs (1-0) at Texans (1-0)
This is going to be the best 1pm kickoff game. This is also, hands down, the hardest game for me to pick. Last year the Chiefs mopped the floor with the Texans twice. But, that was last year and this Texans squad has a whole new look. People want to talk about Houston's J.J. Watt but, how about linebacker Whitney Mercilus? He was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after four tackles and two sacks on Jay Cutler in the the Texans' beat down of the Bears. If KC had Jamaal Charles (who is still out with a ACL injury) I would take the Chiefs but that isn't the case. KC-20 HOU-27
4:05pm Seahawks (1-0) at Rams (0-1)
HEY! You made it through all the 1pm games! Thanks for reading! Unless you're just looking for a later game... and if that's the case well... f*** you. I can't see this being close. The Rams looked awful last week and Jared Goff is already moving up the depth chart. Russell Wilson is nursing a tender ankle but the defense and run game of Seattle is good enough to win on. This is L.A. so I'll give this game a movie title: Battle Los Angeles. Hmmm, that sounds like that may be a movie already? Oh wait it is (IMDB: Battle Los Angeles (2011). Another movie you need to check out. Who doesn't like Aaron Eckhart?! Oh yeah a pick. SEA- 27 LA-9
4:05pm Buccaneers (1-0) at Cardinals (0-1)
If you know me I am a Buccaneers fan. So, you think right away I am going to pick Tampa? Is that what you think?! Well... you're right. But, I'll tell you why. The Cards' secondary was not revamped enough in the off season. While the Bucs' rush defense was. Should be fun to watch though! TB-23 AZ-20
4:25pm Jaguars (0-1) at Chargers (0-1)
The Jaguars almost pulled off a franchise changing victory against the Packers in Week 1. While the Chargers lost their number one receiver for the rest of the year. So, now in Week 2 both need to rebound. And I think the Jags will. They are young. They are talented. And I think they take the AFC South this year.
JAX-21 SD-13
4:25pm Falcons (0-1) at Raiders (1-0)
Talk about two teams in two different directions. I think the Raiders have no where to go but up while the Falcons may slip into a dangerous nose dive this season. Amari Cooper will wreak havoc in the Falcons' secondary much like Mike Evans of Tampa did last week. And there isn't a better linebacker core than in Oakland. I can't believe it, the silver and black may be 2-0. ATL-20 OAK-27
4:25pm Colts (0-1) at Broncos (1-0)
Another game that is pretty black and white to me. The Colts' offense line is an absolute cluster f*** and without protection you might as well have Tyler Cherubini throwing the ball. (See what I did there?! I did what is called a 'call back' joke from Any Given Sunday.) On a related note how about the actor that played Cherubini is really Pat O'Hara who is an offense assistant for the Texans! You can't un-know that now. You're welcome. IND-9 DEN-37
8:30pm Packers (1-0) at Vikings (1-0)
Almost done! Two games left. Now, I am the world's biggest jinx so if you're betting off my picks do yourself a favor and pick reverse who I did. This is a fun divisional match up to cap off this Sunday. Sam Bradford will be making his first start for the Vikings... so this will either be a rebirth for his career or he may just Josh Freeman all over the field. (Yes, I just turned poor Josh into an adjective for awful QB play) Now, if they can win with Shaun Hill starting like they did last week they SHOULD be able to win with Bradford this week. But, this is a healthy Green Bay team... uhh... let me flip a coin *coin flipped* I'm taking... GB-18 MIN-24
[Monday] 8:30pm Eagles (1-0) at Bears (0-1)
Carson Wentz could be the answer to what Philadelphia has needed since the EARLY Donovan McNabb era. And on the other side of the field is Chicago. A QB in Jay Cutler that got shelled last week for six sacks. No Matt Forte (who now is having a great time with the Jets.) And defense that hasn't been feared since 2007. Philly... *deep breath* should come out of Week 2 2-0. PHI-26 CHI-14
