Godfather of Sports Mock Draft IV: Round 2, Doooo It
Round two is where you can strike gold OR stock in Media Play. (Ugh I do miss that store) Let's see what the Godfather and Ben Atwood have in store for this round!
32. Cleveland Browns: Keanu Neal, SS, Florida
Very athletic but, more of an in the box safety. If he can play free safety at he NFL level is yet to be determined. One is for sure though... he will be livid to be a Brown.
33. Tennessee Titans: Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
This Hokie can cover and will fit well in this Titans defensive scheme. Maybe he can pick up where Cortland Finnegan left off... for the Titans sake lets hope not. Finnegan was an All-Decade A-hole.
34. Dallas Cowboys: Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
If the Panthers don't take him in the first round AND the Cowboys don't take Elliot either than this will be a RB, most likely in Henry. Who, by the way, will most likely play with a chip on his shoulder after falling this far and potentially gain +/- 600 all purpose yards his first year.
35. San Diego Chargers: Vernon Butler, NT, Louisiana Tech
Will Butler go in the first round? Maybe. But, what do I know right? The Chargers need to build up that front seven but, in the draft would have been crazy to pass up on Tunsil at the third overall pick.
36. Baltimore Ravens: Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
Billings is another guy that MAY go in the first. But, I feel the 'top 40' is still quasi first round anyways. Don't tell Billings that though. Because there is a few million reasons why round one and two are different.... I'm talking about dollars for those of you that are now picking up what I am laying down.
37. San Fransisco 49ers: Devonte Booker, RB, Utah
He is still a top talent at the RB position and is very patient runner, which is a hard thing to find in young backs. This will now set Chip Kelly into "draft only offense mode" until about round 7.
38. Jacksonville Jaguars: Su'A Cravens, LB, University of S. Cal.
Cravens turned down any private workouts for teams leading up to the draft. Him and his agent feel his highlight tape shows it all. He is an interesting pick and has been compared to Mark Barron of the LA Rams. A big guy that can play outside backer OR possibly strong safety.
39. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana
This pick is even more important now. The Bucs opened up OTAs yesterday (4/26) to find that J.R. Sweezy, a major off season signing on the offensive line, will be out for QUITE awhile after he had a 'procedure' done. NICE. *punches hole in wall*
40. New York Giants: Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State
Ben informed me that the Giants could draft anyone and it would be an improvement. Lucky for him and NY Whitehair is a plug and play starter at either guard position. If they are able to draft Elliot and Whitehair they would improve their yards per game from about 90yds to about 102yds! Way go go!
41. Chicago Bears: Kenny Clark, DT, UCLA
29 total starts for the Bruins. And that is the end of my knowledge about him. Umm... let's see he is 6'3... sub 300lbs... uh... yup. That about sums it up.
42. Miami Dolphins: Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
Built for defensive end in the 3-4. And lets throw this out there a 4.63 40yd dash at the combine! The Fins will need at least 5 more picks on defense considering they lost about half of their starters to free agency.
43. Tennessee Titans (PHI-LA): Hunter Henry, TE, Arkansas
They have about 5,000 picks so why not draft for value. Henry is BY FAR the best tight end in the draft and could make for an excellent check down for young Marcus Mariota. Not to mention Henry is also a stout blocker for max protect plays.
44. Oakland Raiders: Shilique Calhoun, LB/DE, Michigan State
I have watched his draft stock plummet over the last 60 days. I think it's because teams are wondering if he is quick enough to play outside backer or big enough to play defensive end.
45. Tennessee Titans (LA): German Ifedi, OT, Texas A&M
Just keep picking away Tennessee! Another great value pick in the second round. If they are smart they could field three to four starters from this year's draft. Or end up with a ton of busted picks and end up picking in the top five again...
46. Detroit Lions: Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
To call him a replacement for Calvin Johnson would be absurd. At best he will be a place holder in a void left by a Hall of Famer. Fuller is not going to catch passes in the teeth of a defense nor will he be able to block an outside backer... BUT he can run a go-fly-9 route like a pro.
47. New Orleans: Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State University
Drew Brees came out and said it would be 'ok' for the Saints to draft a young QB. Thanks Brees for the green light! IF and it's a big IF Cook falls this far he will have the luxury of sitting and learning behind on the the best passers in the game. If he is off the board at this point NO WAY they reach for Christian Hackenberg here.
48. Indianapolis Colts: Josh Garnett, OG, Stanford
No WOW factor here. They will try and keep Andrew Luck upright and also try not to look like the cluster-f*ck they looked like last season.
49. Buffalo Bills: Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh
Hold your horses there Buffalo Bob! I know, I know... front seven pick here. But, at 49 Boyd is a steal. And isn't made out of paper and glass like Sammy Watkins. Boyd broke all sorts of records at Pitt and plays like a bigger receiver.
50. Atlanta Falcons: Kentrell Brothers, LB, Missouri
He impressed at the combine. He impressed at his workouts at Missu. And impressed in his personal workouts with teams. If he was a corner or defensive end we would have watched his stock shoot up. But, he is an old school inside backer and that doesn't tend to get headlines.
51. New York Jets: Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State University
Yes, last year the Jets took a shot at an OSU receiver here as well in Devin Smith. But, Thomas maybe the better out of the pair. And if they drafted Paxton Lynch or god forbid stick with Geno Smith they are going to need as many clutch targets as they can get.
52. Houston Texans: Nick Martin, OG/C, Notre Dame
Martin can play across the entire interior line. And would have the privilege of blocking for an entire backfield made up of free agent moves (that may or may not pan out.) A three year starter and team captain. To ask for more would be criminal.
53. Washington Redskins: Jonathan Bullard, DT, Florida
Late first to early second talent. He played at Florida. His last name is Bullard. He isn't dead. And... *let me just copy and paste* Florida. Height, 6' 3", Weight, 285 lbs. Class, Senior, Number, 90. All-Star, ---, 40 Time, 4.93. Scouting Report. Videos 8. 2015. Thanks draftbreakdown.com!
54. Minnesota Vikings: Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma
Big play guy that can also do punt and kick returning. The Vikings do a sound job picking starters in the first couple rounds. Shepard could be another guy that a few years from now has a few 1,000 yard seasons under his belt while others picked before him are taking orders at Burger King.
55. Cincinnati Bengals: Vonn Bell, FS/SS, Ohio State University
I have seen Bell drafted ALL OVER the place. In this one he will go in the later second round. Why?! Because my laptop battery is dying and I don't know where my cord and I don't have time to re-flop any picks ok!
56. Seattle Seahawks: Kamalei Correa, LB, Boise State
He is noted to be one of the 'sleepers' of this year's draft. Guys like Mel Kiper have him going as early as the first round to Green Bay. I don't think so. He is a rare, monster talent at the linebacker spot but there is a reason no one else has him going that soon... I just don't know what that reason is...
57. Green Bay Packers: Karl Joseph, SS/FS, West Virginia U.
Top tier talent. Sadly, a knee injury that hasn't seemed to heal right will keep him out of the first round. A steal at 57 if he can get healthy.
58. Pittsburgh Steelers: Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State
They need help in the secondary but with Joseph off the board all the other DB's would be a reach at this point. Jones is another 'sleeper' that could jump off the board in the first. I am running out of things to say... can you tell?
59. Kansas City Chiefs: Deion Jones, LB, Louisiana State U.
A 4.3 40yd dash at the combine is impressive no matter the position. At 6'2 220 he has some bulking up to do if he is going to play for KC. But, to get that kind of speed at that spot is rare.
60. New England Patriots: T.J. Green, FS, Clemson
HOW CAN EVEY GUY NOW BE PROCLAIMED TO BE A POSSIBLE EARLY FIRST ROUND PICK?!?! They can't! That is why they fell to the second round ESPN, CBS etc... but, it is always the case the Pats will get him for a bargain and turn him into a Pro Bowl type DB. And that is why we AND everyone else hates New England.
61. New England Patriots: Kenneth Dixon, RB, Louisiana Tech
"For a couple of days, Dixon was the leading touchdown scorer in FBS history." says someone from NFL.com. So, you know he will fit right in and do the same for the Pats this year. Argh.
62. Carolina Panthers: C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame
Coming out as a Junior and from Notre Dame. Two... questionable things. The Panthers just hope he doesn't follow the pattern for most Fighting Irish backs... or ND players in general. Either way this is a straight draft for need here and it wouldn't surprise me if they traded up for a better back at this point.
63. Denver Broncos: Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State
Well... here you go. If the Broncos don't trade up the get Lynch or Cook ya get... Hackenberg. He had a rough go of it at Penn State after Bill O'Brien left for the Texans. Who knows! Maybe we will be looking back five years from now and Hackenberg is the only QB that is still worth a damn.
Tomorrow is draft day and I couldn't be more excited! So, to cap off my mock drafts I have a complete round three for you tomorrow... it is... sure words. And stay tuned (who the f*ck says that?) Keep your eye's peeled for (Jesus that is even worse and gross).... ya know what?! After the draft I will be handing out draft grades by division.
