NFL Playoffs NO at PHI (Part 2)
I know you just finished reading my first preview and are just dieing to read another one! Or you clicked on this because you meant to click the link below it...
New Orleans Saints (11-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (10-6)
[8:10pm NBC]
I can't believe I am writing this, but, it is good to see the Eagles back in the postseason. (I may have just died a little inside) But, this will be a quite a good match up... or that is what ESPN, CBS, FoxSports1 etc... want you to believe. I see a much different outcome.
The Eagles are happy with their new HC Chip Kelly for getting them into the postseason and to with their division... but that is were it may end. Let us look at the positives first. Nick Foles had a great year (as many expected) in Kelly's offense throwing for more than 2800yds and a nice TD/INT ratio of 27/2. AND of course RB LeSean McCoy and WR DeSean Jackson had monster years both going over 1,000yds rushing and passing respectively. Even Riley Cooper had a great year, grabbing 8TD this season, something tells me though he wasn't getting high-fives and chest bumps when he got back the Philly's sideline.... Anyways, what have I been talking about this whole time? Offense.
Their defense is.. rough. Letting up 394yds per game as well as 23.9 points per game. Now, here comes the Saints. Which. Are pretty good at scoring. Now I am not going to jump into the Saints' stats so much as look into this games, here it comes, -Factor: Darren Sproles. This 5'6 RB is going to be the determining factor if the Saints win or not. Why? Because the Saints are without starting power back Pierre Thomas and will have to let Mark Ingram take the majority of carries. But, Sproles does most of his damage on screens. He has 71rec for 604yds and 2TD. AND when looking back at the Eagles, they let up 290 yards a game passing.
To wrap this up with one final thought. Drew Brees played his college days at... Purdue which at the moment is 28 degrees out. Enough said about the cold weather BS.
