NFL Power Rankings (Week 9)
Falcons are still undefeated... I did not see that coming but they are winning with great D and possession O. And on the flip side of that, the Jags, Panthers and Chiefs have 3 wins between the three of them. So, it would take the addition of the Saints AND Browns wins just to equal the amount of Falcons wins with 7. As an added bonus we got to see Peyton Manning play like the elite QB that he is and we got to see Tony Romo do his best Ray Charles impression as he blindly threw the ball into the Giants' secondary multiple times... now here are your Week 9 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Falcons (7-0): Matt Ryan tossed 3TD in their huge win over the Eagles. He is looking like a very solid MVP pick.
2. 49ers (6-2): Good, no, great defense and a good grip on their division. Could you ask for more? Ok, Alex Smith went 18-of-19!
3. Bears (6-1): Had they lost to the Panthers they would not even be in my top 10 despite their record. But, they won... barely.
4. Giants (6-2): Dallas gave them a scare in the second half but the Cowboys just didn't want the ball. GMen had SIX takeaways.
5. Texans (6-1): Couldn't ask for a better team off a bye than those Buffalo Bills!
6. Ravens (5-2): Hopefully, in their bye week there were able to patch up their aging defense with some youth...
7. Patriots (5-3): New England just loves to play in London. They scored on their first 5 possessions against the struggling Rams.
8. Packers (5-3): They 'held off' the Jags... you shouldn't have to hold off the Jags, you are supposed to dismantle them.
9. Vikings (5-3): For the first time in awhile Minnesota couldn't blame a loss on their O. That rush D was Swiss (as in cheese.)
10. Broncos (4-3): Peyton is back. But, for them to keep winning that D is going to have to show up like it did on SNF.
Bottom 5
28. Browns (2-6): Simple formula! Browns win games when they lean on a RB [See: Trent Richardson, Peyton Hillis, Jim Brown, Dub Jones etc...]
29. Saints (2-5): I have an idea to fix the Saints D... what if they had a secret pool of money that they paid to players for big hits that took opposing players out of the game? Just a thought.
30. Jaguars (1-6): No ground game/can't finish a game/no intensity on the field/insert your own negative coaching cliche!
31. Panthers (1-6): Cam Newton has 8int and 8 fumbles, but he has a new clothing line coming out... so that helps... oh yeah, himself... the word phrase 'self serving' comes to mind.
32. Chiefs (1-6): Brady Quinn is out for their TNF game. Kansas City if looking to change conferences next year... to the Mountian West Conference. Watch out Wyoming and Fresno!
