Campus Heroes (Week 4)
Hey, I missed Week 2 and 3... sue me. But, after four weeks of college football I hate admit that Notre Dame is pretty good, the Big 10 is a BIG joke, and that I still have MSU RB Le'Veon Bell as my dark horse for winning the Heisman this year. And on a personal note... I hope Syracuse can break one win this season, please. And now here are your Week 4 Campus Heroes:
5. Teddy Bridgewater- Lville QB, Soph: 13/21, 149yds, 2TD, 4car 16yds, 1TD What makes this guy so special? First, the Cardinals are now 4-0 and haven't even begun conference play in the Big East which they should handle easily (Minus WVU.) He has completed 73.4% of his passes this year and is one hex of a dynamic player. Okay skeptics, they only beat FIU 28-21 but other than maybe Bama and Oregon everyone looks beatable this year.
4. Tavon Austin- WVU WR, SR: 13rec, 179yds, 3TD. The Mountaineers were 'supposed' to be upset in this one by the Terps but Austin made quick work of that and Maryland's secondary. Sure, I could give props to the QB here but 13 receptions is A LOT and he isn't a big guy either (5'9, 179lbs) so be took his fair share of hits for a smaller guy in leading WVU to their 31-21 win.
3. Stephen Morris- Miami QB, JR: 31/52, 436yds, 2TD, 1INT. He not only lead Week 4 in total passing yards but helped Miami stay alive in the ACC race even after they let GT get back into this game. If he keeps playing like this Miami may have their first legit QB since... Kirby Freeman? Ken Dorsey? The Canes earned a conference win knocking off the Yellow Jackets in a high scoring affair 42-36.
2. Collin Klein- Kansas St QB, SR: 13/21yds, 149yds, 17car, 79yds, 1TD. This is quite the week for QBs not so much in mind-blowing stats but in showing leadership and true grit on the field. Klein lead an offense that was 50% (7/14) on 3rd downs and did a great job of holding on the ball with a TOP of 34:47. Oh, I failed to mention all of this was against Oklahoma! The Wildcats are now 4-0 after the 24-19 win they should be known as one of the better put together teams in the country.
1. Oregon Ducks' D: Shutout win, 6TFL, 2FF, 1FR, 4INT, 1sack. Arizona and Oregon was thought to be a shoot out game with two high powered no-huddle offenses... the Ducks' D did let up 332yds but that is all. No punt returns, no field goals, no TD... all that was up there next to Oregon's 49 points was a big old goose egg for the Wildcats (or in this case a duck egg.) As off right now all signs point to Bama v. Oregon in the National Title game and it will take major upset somewhere along the way to make me think other wise.
Honorable Mentions:
Nebraska's Ground Game: 385yds, 7.4ypc, 5TD (73-7 W)
Le'Veon Bell- MSU RB, JR: 36car, 253yds, 1TD
TCU's Football program: Won their 11th consecutive game!
