Campus Zeros [Week 5]
And this is this week's Campus Zeros. There were quite a lot A LOT of questionable plays, players and coaching calls that lead to heartbreak this past week. Time to get critical [and don't lie, you like reading campus zeros more than he heroes.] Does Texas make it in? The question you should ask is how how many times does Texas make it in?
5. Florida Gators QB-Combo, John Brantley/Trey Burton: I may have misspoke when I said on-air can I quote "...this is going to be like when Tim Tebow and Chris Leak split snaps in 2006" oops. I must have been chugging that Gator punch to think they even had a chance against the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. A combined 3INT and NO TD isn't really BCS material. Have fun in the Las Vegas Doritos Crunch Holiday Inn Pep Boys Bowl.
4. BYU Cougars rushing 'attack': Hey BYU do you still think you can go independent like Notre Dame? Think that you still have the record to support that? Maybe breaking 100yds on the ground would be a step in the right direction. Four rushers combined for a lethargic 65yds AGAINST Utah State! Let me repeat that 65 rushing yards AGAINST UTAH STATE! Alright, I hope you heard me the second time. Let's see you get that good TV contract with that astounding 1-4 record...
3. Texas Longhorns OL: Here is the firs time the Longhorns' get credit where credit is due. Allowing multiple sacks of your QB, mustering a low 4.9 yards-per-carry and just being plan bad. This line doesn't know which way the the line of scrimmage is, doesn't know the snap count, doesn't want to hit. This offense is in a quandary and cannot find their identity in their SECOND straight loss. Amazing. Doesn't get any easier as they face #7 Nebraska in two weeks.
2. Texas Longhorns OC, Greg Davis: On all of your 13 drives your 'offense' had to punt it away 8 times and had one giveaway with a Garrett Gilbert INT. What made you think that you should convert this to a 'smash mouth' rushing offense? Especially without a feature back in the backfield... and you can't expect to do well with a running back named Foswhitt. Does your name have to do with how well you perform? Probably not BUT I just wanted to get name Foswhitt in my blog somehow.
1. College Football Polls: AP, USA Today, ESPN and ESPNU just couldn't wait to bounce Boise State to #4. Ohio State? This is what makes me the most angry. They only beat ONE ranked team and they ALMOST lost to Illinois! 5-14 is the combined record of the teams they beat other than ranked Miami. All Ohio State has to do is have players that are alive and they ALWAYS hurtle in the polls NO MATTER WHAT. Oregon, sure they should be #2 and no reason to move Alabama but year in and year out Ohio State plays their bogus 'Big Ten' card and jump all over the rankings. They are like Duke in College Basketball, they can be the 'School for the Blind' and jump 10 spots no matter who is ahead of them.
