Top 5 Fantasy RBs [Sleeper/Bust]

When drafting a Fantasy Football team it's always important to know what players can get the the most points constantly. Of course every year there are the 'sexy' RB or WR picks that go early and are on the cover of all the FF magazines and ESPN; but, who really is your best bet?

The Godfathers Top 5 Fantasy RBs

1. Adrian Peterson, MIN- It's amazing how quick everyone can jump off one bandwagon to another! EVERYONE has TEN RB Chris Johnson at their #1 RB and overall #1 spot, but not me, I like AP here. Peterson has averaged 1,495 rushing yards and 13.3 touchdowns a season! Yes, ball security was a issue in the playoffs but I don't see that as a problem during the regular season. Also, with Chester Taylor in Chicago look for AP's carries to possibly increase with only rookie Toby Gerhart and a sub-par Ryan Moats behind him on the depth chart. ROUND: 1st overall to early 1st

2. Chris Johnson, TEN- Don't get me wrong, I like CJ quite a bit but, I am worried about his rebound off a 2,006yd season in 2009... Will he try TOO hard to repeat? Will he be upset he isn't getting enough carries if Vince Young comes of age at QB? Or maybe the opposite will happen because when Kerry Collins was starting CJ only had two 100yd games in six starts. Either way you are going to get a lot of big carries and big plays from this pick! ROUND: 1st overall to early 1st

3. Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX- With Fred Taylor gone MJD was able to be super productive out of the backfield going over 1,300yds and scoring 16TDs, 567yds and 2TD more than the previous season. He also led the entire team in scoring with 96 total points. So, with a uneasy QB situation in Jacksonville between David Garrard and Luke McCown it looks like the Jags are going to lean on the run game once again. Lets just hope their offensive line play is a bit better than last year... ROUND: Early to mid 1st

4. Ray Rice, BAL- Rice's strong point is his ability to rip off big chunks of yards for big time plays. He averaged 5.3ypc and finished second to Chris Johnson in rush yards per game with 127.6. The only real drawback to Rice is the fact he only scored 8 total touchdowns last season, which is not something a lot of people want in a FF RB, duh. It's going to be interesting if he is still going to fight with Le'Ron McClain and Willis McGahee for touches in the red zone AND if Donte' Stallworth and Aquan Boldin also take away from his scoring total... ROUND: Early to mid 1st

5. Frank Gore, SF- In his last three seasons Gore has averaged 1,086yds and 9TD in a floundering 49ers offense! Now, with Alex Smith as the established starter, Michael Crabtree actually in camp AND new returner and deep threat Ted Ginn Jr. in town, it's going to be interesting how this will effect the 27 year-old back.  Head Coach Mike Singletary wants to stick with the run game and drafted two first round OL; so, it's only good things for Gore this year, in fact he maybe that 1st round reach you are happy you made ROUND: Mid to late 1st

SLEEPER: Chester Taylor, CHI- This may seem like a very loopy choice but let me explain... One, Mike Martz is the new OC in Chicago and a lot and I mean  a lot of his pass plays have the RB as the 1st-to-3rd option in the QB's reads; so, look for added production here. Secondly, Matt Forte had a TERRIBLE sophomore season and may be super-seeded by the veteran in Taylor. The Bears say 'Forte is their man' BUT signed Taylor for 4yrs at 12.5mil, hmmm...

BUST: Shonn Greene, NYJ- LT is in town. Enough said. And I have a hard time buying into Greene after only seeing him excel in the post-season after splitting carries 60/40 [60 T. Jones] with Thomas Jones. Yes, this team was a great running team last season BUT Santonio Holmes is also a new face to add to the passing game; also, Greene not only has to compete against future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson for carries but newly drafted Joe McKnight from USC as well.
