Top 5 Fantasy QBs [Sleeper/Bust]
When drating a Fantasy Football team it's always important to know what players can get the the most points constantly. Of course every year there are the 'sexy' RB or WR picks that go early and are on the cover of all the FF magazines and ESPN; but, who really is your best bet?
The Godfathers' Top 5 Fantasy QBs
1.Aaron Rogers, GB- Sure, everyone is hot on Saints' QB Drew Brees... and why not? He won the Super Bowl and has a hot passing offense, but I don't like him at #1. Rogers as a lot, and I mean a lot, of targets at TE/WR/RB. Last year he threw 35TD to ONLY 7INT! This can only improve in his third year at the helm of the Packers. ROUND: Mid to late 1st
2.Peyton Manning, IND- You want to talk about consistency? Manning is the captain of it. In the last three seasons he has averaged at 32TD a year, sure he threw 16INT but Manning was always scoring in mid double digit points week in and week out. The only REAL downside to Peyton is weeks 14-16, will he be playing or will Curtis Painter be under center? ROUND: Mid to late 1st
3.Drew Brees, NO- Okay, #3 isn't too bad out of the 32 starting quaterbacks in the entire league. Why am I not hot on him? For three reasons... One, he is on the cover of Madden! Two, he is on the cover of a lot of FF magazines and Three, the NFC South's talent in the secondary has improved since last season. All that being said he will still be good for chuncks of points here and there. He may explode if Jeremy Shockey remembers how to play TE. ROUND: Late 1st to early 2nd
4.Tom Brady, NE- He looked good in his first pre-season game, but that doesn't mean much. BUT, if his run game improves his ability to go play-action will increase, which will allow for more big pass plays. With second year WR Julian Edelman filling in the slot and Randy Moss [at 33yrs old] still being a ball magnet there shouldn't be any reason Brady won't be a solid pick at QB this year. ROUND: Early to mid 2nd
5.Philip Rivers, SD- He has constatly been by fantasy QB every year because the man knows how to get it done. Though his number one target, WR Vincetn Jackson, as yet to join up at camp, Rivers will just have to find new targets in Malcom Fylod and perhaps funny/special teams man Legedu Naanee. No, I didn't forget the annual pro-bowler Antonio Gates will also be his big time target or the fact that rookie Ryan Matthews and Darren Sproles will be coming out of the backfield as well! ROUND: Mid to late 2nd
SLEEPER: Chad Henne, MIA- WHAT? Yeah, Chad Henne! He has a great running game with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, a solid OL and oh yeah, a newly acquired target in Brandon Marshall. There is no doubt that Henne will hit the 3,500yd mark this year and put his rocket arm to use. Only downside is that he tossed 14INT last year... lets hope that is behind him.
BUST: Kevin Kolb, PHI- He has two great WR in Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson, so what's the problem? I just don't see a bright future for his QB. I don't know why, he just doesn't seem to have that NFL QB swagger that a lot of the great QBs have in the leauge. Plus, no matter how many good targets you have, you need a OL and the Eagles' line is questionable at best.
